The key to all first printings of this title is the rear free endpaper verso that lists other books by Dr. As for this book, the last date on copyright page is 1955. This DJ has been salvaged from a busted first edition, first printing and married to this copy. Original and attractive DJ with all first printing points $2.50 price clipped. Blank endpaper towards rear has 3 small thin tone stains. Pages are tight, bright and clean no writing within. A tall book measuring 11.25 x 8.25 inches. One of the notorious 6 discontinued Seuss titles. The front flap is unclipped with the 250/250 price intact. The jacket is good with some chips and closed tears along the top and bottom edges and two small pieces missing from the top and bottom of the spine.
There is an owner's name on the flyleaf else the text is very good with some light spotting to a few pages but no other markings. A good copy with some chipping to the spine tips and some wear along the edges.
This book was one of six titles "withdrawn" by the Seuss Foundation in 2021. First edition of this scarce Seuss title with all of the points listed in Younger & Hirsch ($2.50 price on flap and ten titles listed on rear jacket panel from Mulberry Street to Horton Hears a Who! In this take on the genre of alphabet book, Seuss presents, instead of the twenty-six letters of the conventional English alphabet, twenty additional letters that purportedly follow them.
